This week SOS Chelsea took another bold (but frankly, very enjoyable) step in our endeavours to reduce our carbon footprint and our impact on the environment. If you missed the photograph above of the slightly unusual (in both style and colour) vehicle, then let us proudly announce that the amazing, super efficient Honda Insight 2001 has joined the SOS Chelsea fleet...

This hybrid-power 2-seat hatchback earns top fuel economy ratings and low-emissions status with an electric motor that assists a 3-cyl gas engine in hard acceleration. In coasting or decelerating, the electric motor becomes a generator that recharges a battery pack, so no plug-in charging is required. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard. Insight's aluminum-intensive construction helps make it the lightest car on the market. Aerodynamic styling also contributes to fuel economy.

Enough of the technical stuff - what does this mean for SOS Chelsea and the environment. Well, on Tuesday this week Dave McCann, SOS Chelsea MD (who, incidently is a self confessed petrol head as Clarkson might put it) put a day aside to travel to sunny Lancashire and meet with John of Pumpkin Web Design, the SOS Chelsea web geek.
